I live in Southern Manitoba, and sometimes we can see them here. I've seen some absolutely amazing northern lights displays. Up north you see them way more often, but have seen them. I'm close to the US boarder.

As a visually impaired Canadian, I have to fold my money in the United States because it is all the same colour. I know that all our coins have different sides so you can feel what they are. And yes the bills are different colours and have braille.

It's an advantage to have bills that are different colours so you can tell at glance what it is. (There's a scene in "Taxi Driver" where someone throws a bill on the seat. Was it $1? $20? $50? Who could tell?) U.S. dollars are ridiculously easy for counterfeiters, because they're all the same boring colour and they don't have the see-through mylar window with the imprinted icon, which is *impossible to fake,* which Canadian money has. Americans, of course, always assume whatever they have is automatically BETTER (like all that "funny money" bullshit) -- which is also why they tend to be so unpopular abroad.

Just as an update for June 2024... The "average" hourly wage in Canada for 2019 was $26.88 to $31.71, depending if unionized or not. So, technically it was $27. But for 2023 was $32.60 to $35.73. Big problem, as Tyler pointed out, the so-called "average" gets distorted by a few very high wage earners. Much better to use the "median" hourly wage if you want a better representation of what most people actually earn. You know, the "median" as opposed to the "average" is the middle point where 50% make more and 50% make less. Pretty sure most Americans weren't making $27 an hour in 2019, let alone Canadians. BUT it can be little difficult going to the next generation.. for example.. my son last name ....- i gave him both, mine and his father.. so it is Déry-Gagnon..- his girl friend also going with her mom and dad's names so she goes with Masson-Lewis... now... here is the next generation complication !... - both of them having 2 last names... totaled 4 names ... .. they now have a beautiful girl !... how they chose the name she will live with?... - they could have giving her 2 of the 4 names... so my son's side of the family.. they chose his father's last name and on his girlfriend side of the family .. - they chose her english heritage - so, her mom's last name !.. my grand-daughter is proudly a ... - Déry-Lewis girl !!

As a born and raised Calgarian, I love seeing my home town getting some love! Calgary’s always been big on having a lot of green spaces throughout the city limits, especially Fish Creek Park. It goes from one end of the city to the other! I’ve lived near it my whole life here in the south near sikome lake, and it’s absolutely gorgeous and so peaceful. And the bow river goes hand in hand with it- going tubing down the bow in the summer is a mainstay. In terms of music, a lot of people compare us to Nashville in terms of our country vibes, especially during Stampede each year. It attracts a lot of big artists for concerts. One that wasn’t listed though is the military museum. It’s a great place to visit if you’re interested in war history

In British Columbia Hydro is common but in Alberta people typically either laugh or don’t know. But we only use it to refer to the power grid, or sometimes just called power. Like “the power went off”. But we all use electricity as normal outside of the hydro electric grid.

Yeah we almost always use km over mile. Older people learnt imperial so they are more likely. Clicks is very very common, but in rural Canada (most of it) we typically give distance by time (to drive there on the highway)
